The Asian Center of Excellence for Air Quality, Space Technology, Geo-Informatics, and Environmental Engineering (AiroTEC), Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Samphutthanont, Director of AiroTEC, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Rajabhat University Library, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Charochinee Chaimin, Director of the Library, organized an online training program via Zoom Meeting. The program aimed to enhance knowledge and essential skills related to climate change, environmental management, and disaster preparedness among students, university personnel, and interested members of the public.

The first training session was held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, under the topic “Raising Awareness of Global Warming Mitigation through Tree Carbon Sequestration Assessment in Chiang Mai Province.” The session was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Samputthanon, Director of AiroTEC, who shared knowledge on climate change, the importance of trees in absorbing carbon dioxide, and approaches to assessing the carbon sequestration potential of trees. The training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding while encouraging greater participation in efforts to mitigate global warming.

The second training session was held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, under the topic “Enhancing Knowledge and Skills for Earthquake Preparedness: Know Your Area, Understand the Risks, and Know How to Respond.” The session was conducted by Asst. Prof. Piyawadee Nilsonti, who provided participants with knowledge about earthquakes, the characteristics of areas and factors associated with earthquake risk, preparedness measures, and appropriate safety practices before, during, and after an earthquake. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills, and preparedness for responding effectively to disasters.

The training program was the result of collaboration between AiroTEC and the Chiang Mai Rajabhat University Library to promote learning and access to knowledge on environmental and disaster-related issues. The use of online training provided a convenient and accessible platform for sharing knowledge with students, university personnel, and interested individuals.

These activities reflect Chiang Mai Rajabhat University’s commitment to promoting lifelong learning and developing skills relevant to current situations and emerging challenges. They also reinforce AiroTEC’s mission to integrate knowledge and technology in the fields of air quality, environmental quality, climate change, and natural disasters to disseminate knowledge to society, improve quality of life, and support sustainable local development.
