On 7 November 2025, Dr. Ratchaphon Samphutthanont, Director of the AiroTEC, CMRU and a distinguished expert member of the Lamphun Provincial Urban Planning Committee, participated in the academic seminar held in celebration of World Town Planning Day 2025 under the theme “City in Nature for Climate Change” at the Mueang Lamphun District Office Auditorium. The event was organized by the Lamphun Provincial Office of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.
This year’s event aimed to enhance public understanding of the interconnections between urban development and climate change, while promoting planning approaches that integrate nature into the urban fabric. Such approaches are increasingly essential for strengthening cities’ resilience to climate change impacts.
The nationwide opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Interior, with an overview report delivered by the Director-General of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning. In Lamphun Province, the ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Governor of Lamphun, accompanied by an opening report from the Director of the Provincial Office of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.
The event brought together a wide range of participants, including government agencies, private-sector representatives, students, and members of the public. Exhibitions showcased information on urban planning, green city development, climate change adaptation, and disaster management—covering issues such as air pollution and flooding. The seminar also featured a panel discussion on City in Nature for Climate Change, fostering awareness and encouraging multi-sectoral participation in sustainable urban development.
