AiroTEC CMRU Enhances Capacity in Air Quality Modeling
for Environmental Applications

From 21–23 September 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Ratchaphon Samphutthanont of the Asian Air Quality Operations Center by Space Technology, Geo-informatics & Environmental Engineering (AiroTEC), Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (CMRU) participated in the training course “Air Quality Modeling for Environmental Applications” at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. The participation was supported by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University.

The training aimed to strengthen knowledge and understanding of air pollutant dispersion, types of air quality models, and their underlying mechanisms, while developing practical skills in model application and data interpretation. The program combined lectures with hands-on workshops covering AERMOD, CALPUFF, and indoor airflow and ventilation modeling (Indoor Air Quality), delivered by experts from Mahidol University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and other relevant organizations.

The knowledge and practical skills gained from the training can be further applied to air quality research, air pollutant dispersion analysis, and air quality management, as well as integrated with geospatial data and air quality monitoring data to support and enhance future air quality initiatives.
